The influenza pandemic, known colloquially as ‘Spanish flu’ spread like wildfire across the globe from summer of 1918. It is estimated that as many as fifty-million lives were lost to the disease.
Deaths attributed to COVID-19 were very ‘public’ tragedies. The same cannot be said for Spanish flu. Cemeteries across the world will contain the grave of at least one victim (Laura Spinney – Pale Rider). Sadly the victims lie largely forgotten.
This site sets out to commemorate the Spanish flu victims.
